Dick Muri Tapped To Fill Vacant 28th District House Seat

The Pierce County Council unanimously voted Tuesday for the Steilacoom lawmaker's appointment.

The Pierce County Council voted 7-0 to appoint Dick Muri to fill a vacant position in the Washington State House of Representatives, serving the 28th Legislative District.

Muri is a retired Air Force officer and former elected member of the County Council and Steilacoom School Board.

He succeeds former state Rep. Steve O'Ban, whom the County Council appointed to the state Senate last month. Muri was chosen from a field of three candidates supplied by the local Republican Party, as required by law since he replaces a Republican.
