Early Returns Show John Simpson, Bryan Thomas Leading In Council Race

Simpson leads with 2,321 votes, or 41 percent, and Thomas has 1,478 votes, or 26 percent, according to the Pierce County Auditor's Office.

Early returns from Tuesday's primary election show John Simpson and Bryan Thomas leading big in the race for the vacant Lakewood City Council position No. 5.

Ria Johnson had 951 votes, or 17 percent, and Don Daniels had 878 votes, or about 16 percent.

The top two vote-getters will face each other in the Nov. 5 general election.
