JBLM Furloughs: How Will They Affect Your Family?

Military leaders announced Monday that some 10,000 civilian employees will have to take Fridays off without pay from July to September.

Base leaders announced that 10,000 civilian employees will get Friday off without pay from July to September.

Unless Congress acts to stop sequestration by July - the day sequestration cuts take effect - some $50 million in wages could be lost among civilian employees.

JBLM - Pierce County's largest employer - is likely to see a decrease in traffic in and around its borders on Fridays. Still, that comes as little relief for families of civilian employees who will now lose one-fifth of their paycheck through September.
