JBLM Wife Is A Finalist For Military Spouse of the Year

Pamela McBride, an Army wife of 23 years, has dedicated much of that time to helping veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. She needs your vote to win the Armed Forces Insurance's Military Spouse of the Year Award.

To Pamela McBride, being an Army wife isn't about surviving the lifestyle. It's about thriving in it.

She has been married to husband Doug for 23 years, and during that time she has worked to give veterans and military spouses the tools to help them thrive.

She has worked 10 years as a career counselor, helping transitioning soldiers and spouses match jobs with their military experience. She helped the Internal Revenue Service establish a veteran internship program.

And for that work, the Joint Base Lewis-MChord-based McBride is one 18 finalists from across the military up for the Armed Forces Insurance's Military Spouse of the Year Award. She is one of three spouses representing the Army.

"I am proud that I have had a satisfying career serving military families in military, civilian and volunteer settings," McBride said in her nomination. "Anyone who meets me learns right away: my family is THE most important thing in my life and I am a PROUD military spouse and advocate for military families."

Now, McBride needs your vote. On March 5, online voting will take place to determine the winner among the 18 finalists. Whoever gets the most votes that day - literally in a 24-hour period - is the winner. She is facing some stiff competition, but based on her accomplishments, McBride has a great shot.
