Lakewood City Councilman Jason Whalen Announces Re-Election Bid

The city's deputy mayor is seeking a second term for Pos. 3. His term began in 2010.

Lakewood City Councilman Jason Whalen has announced his bid for re-election to Pos. 3 later this year.

The city's deputy mayor's first term began in 2010. He is currently a business attorney and partner at a firm in Tacoma.

Jason Whalen has announced his campaign for reelection to the Lakewood City Council.

A business attorney and partner with the Eisenhower law firm, Whalen was elected to the City Council, Position 3, in November 2009.  He currently serves as Deputy Mayor and is the Council liaison to the Lakewood Arts Commission, the Redevelopment Advisory Board, and is an appointed representative to the Pierce County Regional Council.  A former U.S. Army Field Artillery Officer, Whalen remains active with his professional affiliations and civic activities including Lakewood Rotary, the American Leadership Forum, and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

Whalen believes Lakewood’s future is bright, provided its leadership remains focused on strategic economic development, continued public safety gains, improvements for our schools, and on creating a vibrant sense of community that attracts and retains families and businesses.  “I am honored to have served Lakewood’s residents these past 3 years and look forward to using my civic experience, professional skills and community involvement to help position Lakewood on a stable path of continued growth and success.”

Jason and his wife, Gael, have been married for 26 years and are the parents of three daughters, ages 18, 14, and 7.
