Iron Horse Casino to Sponsor 40 Elementary Students This Holiday Season

Iron Horse Casino making a difference, teams up with local school to enrich the lives of those less fortunate.

The Iron Horse Casino in Auburn has teamed up with Dick Scobee Elementary to brighten the holidays for at least 40 children this year. They will be raising money and purchasing gifts through out the month of December, working off of a list provided by school officials. The local Elementary school had intended to sponsor ten children themselves, and when asked if they could use some additional assistance, they jumped at the opportunity.

I spoke to the General Manager at Iron Horse, Barry Murray, and he told me, "We just really want to give back, times are so hard out there, for so many." And thats a sentiment that resounds through many communities here in south King County.

The funds will be raised through employees of the casino, and also customers there, who want to lend a helping hand. Cash donations are accepted, and the Managers at Iron Horse will go and do the shopping, or if preferred, you can take the information sheet the school has provided, and do the shopping yourself. The average price range for donations is thirty to fifty dollars, with emphasis on individual "wants" and "needs."

Next year, they plan to do more than one school, and perhaps enlist other local businesses to join the cause. "I could see this thing getting big, and us taking on more and more children," stated GM Barry Murray, "and as that happens, we believe the community as a whole shall prosper, and not just through the holiday season.

If you would like to help out, Iron Horse Casino is located on 15th St. NE in Auburn, and any of the managers on duty will be there to assist you in making a child's wish come true.

This child's wish? Lots of generosity!

It's cool to see a place like the Iron Horse step up and help local schools :) Hope there are some lucky big winners who give back!

Just a FYI, Iron Horse Casino already has all 40 children sponsored! But, the giving doesn't stop there! They will be taking on an additional 20 children, and are still accepting monetary contributions, to provide even more help. Good job Auburn community!!
