Clarkmoor, Southgate and Hudtloff Named 'Exemplary' Schools By State, Most Ever For Clover Park

Five of the district's schools were also named "Very Good" Beachwood and Oakwood Elementary schools, Clover Park and Lakes High Schools and Harrison Preparatory Academy achieved this distinction.

Clover Park School District’s Clarkmoor and Southgate Elementary schools and Hudtloff Middle School have been named Exemplary Schools by the State Board of Education.

Only about 10 percent of schools – 230 out of 2,189 – in the state were identified as Exemplary in the 2012 Washington State Achievement Index. Five of the district’s schools were also named Very Good. Beachwood and Oakwood Elementary schools, Clover Park and Lakes High Schools and Harrison Preparatory Academy achieved this distinction.

“We only had one school last year that was in the Exemplary tier,” said Clover Park School District Superintendent Debbie LeBeau. “The fact that we have three Exemplary Schools this year really speaks to the hard work of the teachers and staff and their focus on student achievement and success.”

The Achievement Index rates schools in five tiers: Exemplary, Very Good, Good, Fair and Struggling. The index measures all schools in the state and shows how schools are performing in key areas including reading, writing, math and science. It also looks at improvement from previous years and compares data from schools with similar demographics.
