Clover Park Schools Offering Summer School

Summer school classes will be held Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at six elementary and two middle school locations beginning July 15.

Beginning Monday, July 15, nearly 700 district students will continue to improve their math and reading skills during Clover Park School District’s elementary and middle school summer school sessions, which will continue through Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Summer school classes will be held Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at six elementary and two middle school locations:

  • Tillicum Elementary;
  • Park Lodge Elementary (includes Idlewild and Lake Louise);
  • Custer Elementary (includes Dower and Oakbrook);
  • Oakwood Elementary (includes Southgate);
  • Evergreen Elementary (includes all Joint Base Lewis-McChord elementary schools); and
  • Lakeview Hope Academy (includes Tyee Park);
  • Lochburn Middle School; and
  • Woodbrook Middle School.

 With targeted funding, students entering grades three, four, five and six in Sept. 2013, will be selected to attend summer school based on performance on math and reading assessments. Up to 500 elementary and 200 middle school students will be served across the district.

“We have some changes to our summer school offerings this year,” said Ann Cuoio, the district supervisor for summer school. “We are specifically targeting the reading and math skills of students moving to the third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. With limited funding, we feel this focus provides the greatest impact to the academic improvements needed in reading and math.”

The district continues to offer a high school credit retrieval summer program, which will be held Monday, July 1 through Wednesday, Aug. 7. Two sessions will be held weekdays (8 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) at Clover Park High School. Cost per credit retrieval course is $175 with a maximum of two credit retrieval courses per student.
