A pair of Lakes football players earned national recognition following exceptional years on the gridiron.
Jared Goldwire and Benning Potoa'e were both named to the 2012 All-American lists from the national website, Maxpreps.com.
Goldwire made the website's Freshman First Team Defense, while Potoa'e made the Sophomore Second Team Offense.
Here's what Maxpreps wrote about Goldwire:
One of the most physically intimidating freshmen in the country, Goldwire appears further along than either Zach Banner or Benning Potate'o.
Here's what Maxpreps wrote about Potoa'e:
A versatile athlete, Potoa'e recorded 43 tackles and five sacks to go along with eight catches for 163 yards and a touchdown on offense.
Congratulations to both Jared and Benning. Many in Lakewood hope they can use all the attention to propel the Lancers to a state championship next year.
