Lakes seniors Terrell Toney and Jordan Johnson are the Lancers' version of thunder and lighting.
One is as quick as lightning. The other's dunks can be louder than thunder.
But on Tuesday night against Decatur, Coach Nick Jensen wasn't looking to them to create a storm. He wanted them to help the team weather it.
On the strength of Toney and Johnson's team-high 14 points, Lakes fought off the Golden Gators to earn its first SPSL win, 66-58 in Lakewood.
The Lancers' big fresman, Gerald Goldwire added 10 points.
Decatur's Jason Young led his team with 19 points.
The teams exchanged leads multiple times during the game, which saw the Decatur jump out to an early lead in the first quarter.
However, the Lancers fought back and trailed by only a point at halftime. The third quarter started with a backdoor lob to Johnson, who packed it over a defender and was fouled. Later, he found himself free for a breakaway dunk.
Lakes next plays at Enumclaw on Friday.
