Hey Lakewood residents - do you want to get involved your community? Do you want to help local students?

Rob Pangaro, president of the Park Lodge Elementary PTSA, says he has the perfect opportunity for you.

On June 2, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the group of parents teachers and students will lead a clean up day to spruce up the the campus. From weeding to planting to scrubbing walls, Park Lodge PTSA hopes to spruce up the building, which dates back to the 1950s.

Pangaro, whose 7-year-old daughter Geneveive attends school there, says these improvements are covered in the day-to-day maintenance of the school.

"Basically, these things won't happen without us," he said. "This is stuff not really held in the budget."

Of course, the group is looking for volunteers. And if you can't lend some elbow grease, financial donations also help.

"We'll take volunteers if they want to show up, donate supplies, snacks and drinks, whatever," he said.
