Park Lodge's Terese High Receives WASA Community Leadership Award
High is the reason Clover Park students continue to be represented in the Pierce County Daffodil Festival. She helps create the district float.
Park Lodge Elementary’s Terese High received the Washington Association of School Administrator’s (WASA) Community Leadership award May 17 during WASA’s monthly regional meeting at Fife School District administration offices.
The award is presented to community members in recognition of their outstanding contributions toward education.
High is the reason Clover Park School District (CPSD) students continue to be represented in the Pierce County Daffodil Festival. Since 2003 when her daughter was a senior at Lakes High School, she and a steady crew of dedicated volunteers used the festival theme to create a school district float. The Daffodil Festival requires that a float must be entered in the previous year’s Grand Floral Parade in order for a school district to have princesses. The CPSD float has received awards from at least eight of the 10 years High has been involved.
“It’s fun to work on the project and see the outcome,” said High. “It’s nice to know that by supporting the float project, the high schools can continue to participate in the Daffodil Festival, which is a great leadership program.”
