5 Reasons Why Cheney Stadium is for You

Even though summer is winding down, it's not too late to catch some great local baseball with the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium. Join Patch behind the scenes and see why this is a local sports gem.

The List takes on something unique and puts a spin on our usual fare this week. We are talking all  things Cheney Stadium with photos of the newly renovated park.

The best part about Cheney is you don't need to travel north to Seattle and you get to enjoy the same sport in your backyard.

Let's explore five reasons why this is a cool place to visit in addition to the recent visual improvements.

1. Baseball—South Sounders love baseball. The Rainiers are a fun ballclub to watch. And there's usually a recognizable Mariner face or two in the lineup.

2. Locality—While Safeco Field is a absolute gem, it's a trek for us South Sound baseball fans. Cheney, on the other hand, is only minutes away from home. There's cheaper parking and traffic isn't nearly as bad.

3. Affordability—Taking a family to the Mariners game isn't cheap. You have purchase tickets, food, transportation and usually more. Tickets at Cheney are more affordable with special packages, promotions and family nights. Click the link above to view your options.

4. Friday Night Firework show— There's an extended firework show after the game on Friday nights. They're pretty spectacular.

5. Family Fun—Cheney Stadium has families in mind. Special family nights offer tickets, food, drink, souvenirs and other goodies for a great price. Click here for the upcoming deals.

There are still at least a few sunny days left. You're not too late, so make sure you check out at least one of the remaining home games.
