PLAYOFF OUTLOOK: Lakes, Clover Park Battle For State Seeding

The West Central District 3A, 2A tournaments begin today. Lakes girls and boys basketball teams look to secure state berths. No.-1 ranked Clover Park Boys earn a bye but top scorer David Crisp suffers season-ending injury.

The Clover Park boyd hoops team look to capture their second straight Class 2A West Central District and state title starting this week but without the dynamic shooting and play of sophomore guard David Crisp.

Warriors head coach Mel Ninnis told Patch that Crisp—who averages 25 points per game—recently broke his foot. He will miss the remainder of the season, Ninnis said.

Clover Park—ranked No. 1 in state—earned the top seed and a bye to the district playoffs and will compete against the winner of Foster and Port Angeles at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Lakes High School.

With a victory, the Warriors will play at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday at Franklin Pierce High for the right to advance to the district championship and earn a guaranteed spot to the state playoffs in Yakima at the Sun Valley Dome.

The Warriors (18-4) qualified to the district tourney by winning South Puget Sound League 2A title followed by the sub-district championship this past weekend.

The No. 6-ranked Lakes girls basketball team dominated Bonney Lake with a   They now compete against Yelm in the opening round of the district playoffs at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Franklin Pierce High School in a loser-out matchup. With a win, the Lancers will travel to Vancouver to play No. 1 Prairie at Hudson Bay High School and play for a guaranteed state berth.

If the Lancers lose against Prairie, they will play at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Clover Park High School in a loser-out, winner-to-state playoff contest.

The Lakes boys basketball team and will compete against Lincoln at 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the opening round of the 3A district tournament.

A victory over the Abes would pit the Lancers—ranked ninth in the state—against Columbia River at 6 p.m. Friday at Hudson Bay High School in Vancouver in a winner-to-state matchup.

If the Lancers (14-7) lose to Lincoln, they will play be eliminated from the tournament.
