Health and Safety Fair

Good health will be the focus of a free community event Saturday, Nov. 5, at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom.

The English as a Second Language program is hosting a free Health and Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s Health Education Center, 9401 Farwest Dr. S.W., Lakewood. The event will feature free health screenings, including dental, blood pressure, and blood sugar tests, and more than 30 health- and fitness-related informational booths.

Visitors will also have chances to win door prizes from Starbuck’s, Black Bear Yogurt, Adriatic Grill, and the Pierce College Bookstore.

Exhibitors include the Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department, Pierce County emergency management, health, and fire departments, Korean Women’s Association, Safe Streets, YMCA Lakewood, and the Pierce College dental hygiene and health and physical education programs.

Pierce College considers community partnership and contribution to be an institutional outcome, one of the guiding principles of the college’s mission.
