High School in Retrospect

Attending Lakes has been the most trying, irritating, exhilarating, infuriating, inspiring, and amazing four years of my life. But it was worth it all the way.

Freshmen Fridays was the first thing that popped into my head as I walked onto campus for the first day of high school almost four years ago. Freshmen Fridays were the weekly ritual where the upperclassmen tortured the newbies entering Lakes High School.

Next I thought I'm about to get lost, in a figurative and literal sense. With such a huge school compared to the paltry couple hundred in middle school, I was bound to get lost in the hallways and among the other 2,000 students that undoubtedly had already staked a claim to the titles of smartest, best athlete, or any other popular title would get you noticed.

Since that first day, I’ve learned, thankfully, the existence of Freshman Fridays is a myth, so far as I know. The campus of Lakes High School is not nearly as daunting as it once seemed. By giving high school my best effort, I have made a name among friends and teachers who I will continue to keep in contact with.

The one thing that stood out was having a constant support system behind me; my friends, my teachers, my faith, and, most definitely, my family. When it came to giving presentations, passing my physics class, and now, walking across the stage at my graduation, I’ve always had a cheering section keeping me motivated and inspired to do my best.
