Lakes Manhandles Decatur, 61-0

Imagine a freight train colliding with a compact car.

The Lancers (6-0 overall, 3-0 league) flattened Decatur 61-0 at Federal Way Memorial Stadium Saturday night in a one-sided South Puget Sound League 3A contest.

The offense scored at will, and the No. 2-ranked Lancers immediately took the Gators (4-2 overall, 1-1 league) out of the game. Lakes tallied 54 unanswered points in the first half on just 20 plays.

They scored on every possession and never punted or turned the ball over in the first half.

Lakes senior quarterback David Wood launched the offensive siege with a 1-yard plunge with 7 minutes, 30 seconds in the opening quarter. Then Lakes junior Marquin Russell caught a 33-yard TD from Wood.

Seven different Lakes players found pay dirt as the Lancers totaled 370 yards of total offense. Nine different players carried the ball.

Lakes senior Levonte Littlejohn rushed for 48 yards on three carries and a touchdown. He caught three passes for 69 yards including a pair of reception TDs.

Littlejohn totaled 117 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.

Wood completed six passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns. Dozier also tossed an 18-yard strike to junior wide receiver Sammie Long.

Defensively, the Lancers' train never derailed, allowing just 80 yards and forcing three turnovers, one of which was returned 54 yards by junior Marquin Russell in the final quarter.

Decatur running back Curtis Havili gained a meager 2 yards on 16 carries and their quarterback Abraham Ferrell-Logan completed 8 passes for 86 yards and a pair of interceptions.
