Lakes' Yorks Runs Into Record Books
Lakes senior clocks fastest time in 1,600-meter run in state history.
On Saturday afternoon, Izaic Yorks ran around the track at Mount Tahoma Stadium -- and right into the state record books.
Yorks, a senior at Lakes High School, finished the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 4 seconds at the Class 3A West Central/Southwest bi-district championships.
According to the News Tribune, not only was Yorks' performance an all-time best mark in the state, he wrested away the 2012 national lead from White River senior Marcus Dickson (4:05.83).
Yorks reportedly hit the two-lap mark at 2:03, and completed his third lap in another 60 seconds. His final 400 meters clocked in at 1:01.
