Poll: Who Will Capture the 2011 Cross-Town Boys Hoops Rivalry Game on Saturday?

Defending 3A state champion Lakes will host Clover Park, the returning 2A state champion, at 7 p.m. at the Lancers new basketball gym. Vote who will win this heated contest.

Talk about starting off with a bang.

The Lakes Lancers convincingly defeated Bellevue in the 3A state championship, 71-56 this past year at the Tacoma Dome. They are set to clash against Clover Park, the returning 2A state champs with a 69-54 victory against the Squallicum Storm in Yakima at the Sun Dome.

But there can only be one Lakewood championship team to kick off the new season. ESPN High School Pre-Rankings have Lakes No. 2 and Clover Park No. 8, respectively.

When the two championship teams met earlier this year in January, the Lancers won 75-68 and were led by combined performances of senior guard Isaac Winston and junior Nate Guy who scored 40 points.

But this year, the Lancers graduated starters Winston, Taylor McAllister and Carl Flamer. They retain Zach Banner, the 6-foot-9-inch center, Guy, Andrew Holloway and Cedric Dozier.

Clover Park's lineup this year features a pair of sensational sophomores of Ahmaad Rorie and David Crisp. As freshmen, Crisp and Rorie garnered looks from Division I schools like Gonzaga, Washington State, the University of Washington and the University of California.

The two friends, who both played for the AAU Northwest Panthers, were key contributors to the Warriors advanced to the state tournament and capturing the title. However, the Warriors graduated Tana Pritchard and Marcus Sheppard, the team's two biggest men.
