Putting Life Into Perspective

The important thing to do in college — life in general — is to participate. There is something for everyone on a college campus just as there is in life. Make use of what you've learned in high school and continue growing — as an athlete or student.

I have finally decided on a college to attend after much deliberation and many, many late-night cups of coffee finishing tons of required paperwork.

University of Washington here I come!

No, I don’t want to hear anything from you Cougs…Right now, it’s difficult to imagine what college life will be like — because this week marks the closing of the Lady Lancer water polo team. There's a rush of three final games, and then it’s over.

When I first heard about college sports, I assumed that you either had to be NCAA Division 1 material or your sports days were over, no matter how good you were in high school. Fortunately, that’s not true at all. All it takes is a little self-motivation.

Chances are you're not one of the lucky few playing on a D-I team of your choice. You'd be surprised to find there are a multitude of competitive club or intramural sports for those like me who can’t seem to give up our competitive personalities.

It's hard letting go of being a Lancer. For the freshmen and sophomores, they have another two or three years to go. The seniors like myself will pass on the torch and the juniors will take on new leadership roles.

It's a sad but inevitable farewell to our water polo and swim coach Dave Dooley. Good luck Dooley! We’ll miss you! As for the seniors, it’s the end of high school sports. However, it doesn’t have to be the end. For some of us it's just getting started.

It’s been a great season Lady Lancers — good luck next year. And while the season will be over next week, stay tuned for another installment of Captain's Log.
