Need to Fill Up Before Labor Day? Find the Lowest Gas Prices in Lakewood

Day to day prices are setting record highs, according to AAA.

Getting ready to head out on a road trip for Labor Day weekend? Prepare yourself for pain at the pump—gas prices are hitting record highs across the country and are not expected to start coming back down until after the holiday.

Before you pack up the car and hit the road, make sure you check out Lakewood Patch's Commute page to see low gas prices near you. 

A recent search found $3.78 a gallon at ARCO, 10006 South Tacoma Way (cash only). GasBuddy.com also shows lows of $3.93 at 76, 7718 Bridgeport Way W and $3.95 at Chevron, 10801 Bridgeport Way SW.

According to AAA, Washington state has experienced the sixth-highest average price increase—20 cents per gallon—from Aug. 20, 2011, to Aug. 20, 2012. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.97 in our state at the beginning of the last week, the report stated.

Nationwide, the average price of $3.72 on Aug. 20 was the highest ever for that day in history. AAA expects prices to begin to drop after Labor Day, but says record-breaking averages will likely continue into the fall.
