Samoa Culture Day

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Saturday at in Lakewood.
  • Why Go: The second-annual festival will feature traditional Samoan games, dances, music, singing, foods, arts and crafts, and more.
  • Cost: Free.
  • Where/When: start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and continue through Sunday at Fort Steilacoom Park.
  • Why Go: Activities at the city's annual summer festivalmore t include live music on two stages, more than 150 food, arts and craft and service vendors, Army Strong Fitness Expo, a Kidz Zone inflatable area, petting zoo, pony rides, a sprint Triathlon and free 5K, and much more.
  • Cost: Free.

Chalk Art Festival

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. Saturday at Fort Steilacoom Park.
  • Why Go: Amateur and professional artists will express their creativity by covering the streets with beautiful and brilliant chalk art masterpieces. Presented by the Lakewood Arts Commission and the City of Lakewood this event will feature three categories: professional, amateur and group. 
  • Cost: Free to watch.

Wings & Wheels

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the in Gig Harbor.
  • Why Go: Tacoma Freedom Fair's Wings & Wheels is back for its second year with airplane fly-bys, a meet and greet with pilots, airplane and helicopter rides, displays, a car show, a motorcycle show and more.
  • Cost: $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 7 to 17. Children 6 and under get in free. Tickets are available at the door, or in advance at www.FreedomFair.com.

South Tacoma Farmers Market

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at MetroParks STAR Center, 3873 S. 66th Street in Tacoma. 
  • Why Go: This lively Sunday Market offers a diverse selection of local fruits, vegetables, flowers, meats, bakery products, specialty food items and handcrafted arts right in the heart of South Tacoma's newest family gathering place. 
  • Cost: Free.
