St. Demetrios Annual Greek Festival

DEMETRIOS ANNUAL GREEK FESTIVAL IN ROCKY RIVER JUNE 20-23, 2013  Rocky River, Ohio—Authentic Greek cuisine, live Greek music, and dancing will be featured at the region’s largest indoor Greek Festival. The four day event will occur from Thursday through Sunday, June 20-23, 2013 at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 22909 Center Ridge Road in Rocky River. Both admission and parking are free to the public. Events begin at 11 AM daily with lunch and continuing to 10 PM on Thursday and Sunday, and until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday. Major credit cards will be accepted in the main dining room and pastries lines.            Buffet-style homemade Greek entrees including lamb shank, stuffed grape leaves, spinach and cheese pies, shish kebob sandwiches, baked fish – Greek style, and chicken dishes will be available in the main dining room. Dining Room and Zapis Activity Center seating can accommodate over 500 patrons and outdoor seating in the courtyard and tents number can seat an additional 500 guests. Bands will play in the large outdoor tent providing opportunities to hear both popular and folk music by several outstanding Greek performers.            The outside Taverna will a menu all of its own with Greek delicacies of calamari, Greek caviar spread, meatballs, feta cheese, olives, cheese and spinach pies, and a sampler plate with wine on the side.            In a rush; this year the festival will again offer drive-thru service on select menu items. In addition to curb side ordering, customer may place their orders ahead of time by calling 440-331-1521 or new this year order ahead online at www.greekfoodtogo.com. Customers taking advantage of these convenient pre-order services may drive directly to the pick-up window where their order will be waiting.            In addition to the seating in the Zapis Activity Center, vendor booths will sell homemade Greek pastries and sweet breads, jewelry, bookstore that will have reading material with topics for Greek culture and the Orthodox religion, and other items representative of Greece and all her islands.             The Greek Orthodox liturgy, icons, music, religion, and history of the Hellenes will be explained and discussed during periodic Church tours led by Reverend Father Jim Doukas.            There will also be entertainment and food oriented more for children, including outdoor games and activities.  Senior citizens can get a 10% discount on their lunch meals on both Thursday and Friday, excluding drive-thru service.  Proceeds from the Festival will be expended on improvements to Church facilities, as well as supporting many philanthropic and charitable causes.
